OCTOVO searches — only if you have switched on watching — the locally stored screen text from yesterday for “dishwasher”, finds the window title and address of the Amazon page, looks up your father in the address book and writes the message. Whatever comes from screen content only goes out after your approval, at every autonomy level.

What does OCTOVO do when you ask about something you only saw?

It searches the screen memory — the text it stored while watching — for “dishwasher” in yesterday’s time window, finds the excerpt with the window title “Bosch Series 4 dishwasher – Amazon.de” and the address, looks up your father in the contacts and writes the message in your usual tone. It waits for your yes.

Every line in the conversation is a tool that really exists in the app. The names are invented.

    Under “Waiting for you”: recipient, text, link — and the note “from screen content”. You check the link, then it goes out through the Messages app on your Mac.

  2. The excerpt in plain text

    In the “Screen” area: time, program, window title, address, text read — exactly what it found. Next to it “Forget the last hour” and “Forget everything”.

  3. What it did not see

    The list of blocked areas: password managers, banking sites, login pages, private windows — and everything you added yourself. The block applies before reading.

What stays with you — and where is the limit?

Stays on your device

  • The screen memory: text read, with time, program, window title and address — local, encrypted, 7 days by default, adjustable between 1 and 90. After that it expires on its own.
  • No video, no image by default: it reads text and stores text. Card numbers, IBANs and keys are removed before storing.
  • Who your father is and how you address him: in the address book and memory on the device.

Where the limit is

  1. Off by default. Without the big switch in the “Screen” area there is no screen memory — and then it does not find the link, but says so.

  2. While watching is on, it shows visibly in the menu bar (“Screen is being read”), and pausing sits at the very top of the menu.

  3. On a work device without a works agreement, watching is not permitted (§ 87 Abs. 1 Nr. 6 BetrVG); in professions bound to secrecy it is locked until you unlock it individually. OCTOVO points this out when you switch it on.

Do I have to switch something on for this?

Yes. Watching is off by default; you switch it on in the “Screen” area with a big switch — next to it, it says what happens afterwards and what it costs you. While it runs, the menu-bar icon shows “Screen is being read”.

Does it then also see my online banking?

No. Banking sites, password managers, login pages and private windows are blocked areas — the block applies before reading, not after. Card numbers, IBANs and keys are additionally removed before anything is stored. You block your own programs and addresses with “Add program”.

How long is it stored?

7 days by default, adjustable between 1 and 90; after that the text expires on its own. Plus three buttons: “Pause”, “Forget the last hour”, “Forget everything”. None of it leaves your device, except the excerpt a single question needs.
