Eight steps, no form

Setup runs as a conversation: the assistant asks one thing at a time, an eight-dot progress bar shows where you are. None of this needs memorising — this page lists it for reference.

The eight steps, in order

  1. Language

German or English — takes effect immediately, changeable later in Settings too.

  2. The assistant’s name

Otto is suggested by default; you can enter a name of your own.

  3. Your name

How you want to be addressed — can be skipped.

  4. Account

Sign in with email and password; “Later” skips this step.

  5. The one consent screen

One single screen stating what the app may do on your device — the exact wording shown is logged with a timestamp.

  6. Getting acquainted

Eight skippable questions: profession, company, location, signature, projects, tax advisor, tax status, pet peeves.

  7. Connecting your mailbox

Address and password; the provider is detected and shows matching instructions — can be skipped.

  8. Done

Setup finishes — the daily board opens right after.

Three steps carry their own “Later” button: your name, the account, and the mailbox. Anything skipped can be picked up again later — none of it blocks the other steps.

Known gap

Known gap in this documentation build (as of 25 Sept 2026): the individual steps are checked, but a test that runs all eight in sequence as a real end-to-end flow does not exist yet.
