The input field takes text and up to ten images, a leading slash opens commands, and a real slider next to it sets how thoroughly Otto thinks for this one question.

What travels with what you send
The input row carries more than just text: attachments, built-in commands, and the autonomy dial — all right where you are typing, instead of tucked away in a separate menu.
Attachments
- 10 images per message — no PDFs
- 20 MB per single file
- 20 MB total per message
These limits are checked before the upload even starts — the same limits apply again on the server side.
Typing while Otto is still working
A message you send while Otto is still working on the previous one goes straight into the running task as an interjection — it does not sit in a queue. It is only held back locally if the connection is down, or the run rejects it.
Slash commands
A leading “/” opens a list of built-in commands, for example “/help”, “/approvals”, “/connections”, “/memory”, “/files”, “/log”, “/quota”, “/model” or the emergency stop “/stop”. These commands never leave your device — they only switch something in the interface.
Custom shortcuts you create yourself are different: they do go to Otto, with a prepended instruction text — unlike the built-in commands above.
The autonomy dial
Three levels, from sparing to thorough, right next to the input field instead of in Settings — how much thought a question deserves belongs to that one question, not to a permanent setting. It is a real slider: keyboard-operable, and announced to screen readers as a word, not as “level 2 of 3”.
Thinking more thoroughly really does cost more quota: in a measurement from 17 Sept 2026, the sparest level used no thinking tokens at all, the most thorough one 28 out of 84 — a tooltip next to the dial states this before you change level.
The full table of what each autonomy level allows when acting lives on “How it works” — here only the dial itself, which separately controls how thoroughly (not how independently) Otto proceeds.
